With Linux, case counts – index.html and INDEX.HTML are different files. with Windows they’re the same file. Also, you usually get MySQL with Linux, MSSQL with Windows, and Windows (the server is IIS) can run ASP. You also may not get PHP with Windows.
The operating system that the server is running. And there are some programming languages that are Windows only. So if you want to do asp or aspx pages you need a Windows host.
