Abyss web Server from download.com
http://computersguide.blogspot.com/2007/01/install-computers.html
you can find several free web hosting services that will let you host your domain name, in exchange of a banner ad on your site.
If you are looking for a local web sever to run on your computer, then you can download microsoft’s IIS7
Apache… and MySQL and PHP to go along with it for dynamic sites. Free and open-source to boot.
But before you even get started, have a look at the fine print in your contract with your ISP. If it’s like most of them, running a server off your account is likely to get you banned.
To get a quick taste of Apache (and MySQL and PHP), install Xampp – it’s not secure, and it’s not configured in the best way, but it will install and run even if you have no idea what you’re doing. (It’s Apache, MySQL, PHP and an ftp server in a single package.) Once you install it, point your browser to localhost and you’ll be looking at your web server.
Once you get familiar with what you’re doing, remove Xampp and install Apache, MySQL, etc.
Try Apache server and you could host website on your computer.
But if you create website and if you like to run your website 24/7 from your computer, you will have to switch on your computer all the time and it may damage your computer in the long run.
I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.
