You are probably on a Unix/Linux server now. They will have more bandwidth but what are you doing with your web site that you really care? The cost is the same.

Why switch? Free or free? Why not setup a test site there for a month or two and see how it works out.
Besides, most people with home servers give up after 3 to 6 months. They don’t want to keep up with the updates and constant server attacks.
I am not very sure if setting up your own server is a good idea. It in fact can be a big hassle. You would have to ensure that server is up all the time, can handle all the traffic, and is connected to a very good internet connection.
