I use MySQL as my database I don’t feel like learning a whole new computer language when you can stick with the ones that is already been made for free from Microsoft. MySQL you can use PHP or Java to organize your data from your hard-drive: images, registrations, accounts, videos, documents, etc… PHP and Java are the easiest language to learn so I suggest you learn that and JavaScript for web development.

Java is for making application same as C++ but less complicated and MySQL
JavaScript Web development is good for

Java is a good substitution for C++

Your assignment sounds miserable, but here’s some advice.

PHP is a really nice web language to jump into. MySQL is a really nice and easy database to jump into. PHP and MySQL play with each really well! They’re like peanut butter and jelly.

Take a look at those two languages. Many beginner web developers or database developers start with MySQL and PHP. For inspiration, check here: http://www.netinstructions.com/2011/09/how-i-taught-myself-to-program-and-which-language/

    Okay.. Yeah.
As others have said. Php / MySQL or maybe PostgreSQL all the way on this.

As a bonus, there really REALLY is probably an existing open source or otherwise free program or programs out there that can do this for you already.

Here’s some things that may get you going in the right direction…

+1 for PHP/MySQL. I did my last year project on this platform but on Windows machines. MS Access is ok but you have so much more at your disposal with PHP, especially when it comes to security.
