If you bought your game from steam go to tools and download left 4 dead dedicated server. Install it and run it. Unless you want to customize your server thats pretty much it. I also noticed that you sometimes have to join the game before other players join. I also found that if I customized the server people didn’t seem to get connected to it as much as the default settings.
