what are the tools to develop asp.net applications?

Asp is it’s own creature not related to c#, it’s more VBScript.
Check out the Web Developer express edition

You’ll also need to web server to support ASP, if on windows you can use IIS.

You can use Visual Web Developer Express if you don’t have a full copy of Visual Studio. That’s the quickest set of tools you’ll need. Depending on your level of familiarity with web application development, you may be interested in third party toolsets. I personally haven’t found any 3rd party add ons that I haven’t been able to develop better on my own.

Microsoft Visual Studio would be enough to code some ASP.NET apps. You may add AJAX to enhance user interface.

hi dear friend you can use microsoft visual studio 2008,if you want to develop asp.net application than you can use C# as well as VB.& you can use database sql server 2000 or 2005 or any database server which you want to use………….:)
